Bronchitis

Our registered nurses can help with the care and management of bronchitis.

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a respiratory disease when the mucous membrane of the bronchial tubes becomes inflamed. The bronchial tubes are the airways that carry air to the lungs. There are two main types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis usually resolves within eight weeks with proper treatment and medication, while chronic bronchitis is a long-lasting condition that lasts for at least three months up to many years.

Some bronchitis symptoms include coughing, yellow, green, or clear thick mucus, shortness of breath, fatigue, low fever and chills, and chest tightness.

Bronchitis is often caused by a virus and typically resolves on its own. Acute bronchitis treatments include rest, fever reducers, use of humidifiers, and aspirin or acetaminophen. If the symptoms last over three weeks, a doctor will prescribe oral and inhaled medicine to clear mucus. In addition, not smoking and oxygen treatments are helpful to treat chronic bronchitis.

Living with chronic bronchitis can be challenging as patients deal with a condition that inflames the bronchial tubes, leading to persistent coughing and difficulty breathing. One of the most significant aspects of coping with chronic bronchitis is the need for ongoing medical management and lifestyle adjustments. Patients often need to incorporate various medications, such as bronchodilators and anti-inflammatory drugs, into their routines to alleviate symptoms and enhance lung function.

  • Taking respiratory therapy
  • Avoiding exposure to environmental pollutants and irritants
  • Exercising regularly to improve cardiovascular fitness and overall lung function
  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Learning more about the condition
  • Adhering to treatment plans

Professional involvement in a medical treatment cost depends on your health requirements and medical insurance particularities. However, a skilled nurse is always on call to deal with any treatment and care requirements you may have. Please call your doctor for additional questions and information regarding home care.

Patients will work alongside their healthcare team to ensure proper care, manage complications, and improve their overall quality of life. Our multidisciplinary term of nurses have the experience and resources to provide the best support for the patient and the family.
