All Signature clinicians understand the nature of the surgery, why it was performed, and the cause of the orthopedic impairment. Our nurses will always assess for complications that can follow orthopedic surgeries such as: compartment syndrome, fat embolism, blood clots, hypovolemic shock, sepsis, wound infection, swelling, and educate the patient on other hazards of being immobile.

Create a plan of care post-surgery

Our nurses will also assess the patient’s immediately after transferring home to determine pain-management needs. Depending upon the severity of the surgical procedure, each patient will have different requirements for pain management and care. We address these immediately with the orthopedic surgeon. Based on the doctor’s prescriptions, we educate the patient about all medications, schedule, and assist in ensuring the patient receives any new prescription in a timely manner.

Our nurses team up with our licensed therapists who help the patient with at-home therapy and rehabilitation according to the plan of care. We also partner with licensed physical, occupational, and speech pathology therapists who help the patient with at-home therapy and rehabilitation according to the plan of care.

Signature’s clinicians document everything relating to the patient according to Signature and Medicare’s protocols. We maintain accurate and detailed records about the patient’s recovery, as these will be of vital importance to the patient’s doctor at post operative check-ups
